Why are there community meetings? Community meetings are the first opportunity for residents to provide comments publicly on proposed development projects. Residents are invited to join their neighbors, the District Commissioner, and Orange County staff at an in-person meeting where the applicant will present their request and answer your questions. The Community Meeting is a time to learn more about the proposal, ask questions, and provide feedback.
Will a vote occur during a community meeting? No. This meeting is for informational purposes only.
What's the next step after the community meeting? The proposed project will go before the Development Review Committee (DRC), Planning & Zoning Committee (PZC)/Local Planning Agency (LPA) or the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) for a recommendation. That recommendation will then go to the Board of County Commissioners for a final vote.

rhornborg asked about 1 month agoThanks for your question on Engage Orange. Notices were sent out to 175 property owners extending over 500 feet from the subject property. A community meeting for this rezoning request was held on September 23, 2025, at Killarney Elementary School. Then this request went before the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) for a public hearing on October 16, 2025.
Public notices are mailed for community meetings and public hearings. Three notices were mailed regarding this rezoning request to those within the buffer area. All information regarding this rezoning request, including the buffer map and buffer list, can be found using FastTrack: OC FastTrack - Planning and Zoning Commission. Enter the case number (RZ-25-09-002) into the search bar, the case should appear and after clicking on it, all information and attachments will be available to download.
This rezoning request is going before the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) this afternoon (January 13, 2026) after 2pm for a final determination. You can watch this hearing live at Orange TV Live.

Thank you for your question.Vision 2050 sets big-picture goals for safer, better-connected walking and biking. The specific rules for how to design streets and developments to meet those goals are laid out in Orange Code.
Orange Code focuses less on separating land uses and more on the look and layout of streets, blocks, and buildings. That approach naturally creates places where walking and biking are safer and easier, while still allowing cars to move through.
Some suburban features—like subdivision walls, gated entrances, and cul-de-sac street patterns—may still make sense in certain existing suburban areas. But in most new development and in established urban neighborhoods, Orange Code will generally not allow those features. The result is that future projects will help build a community that is more connected, easier to get around, and supportive of multiple travel options.

Share Hi - I just received a letter from CS Engineering and Consulting today about a proposed church at 3103 Avalon Road. The letter shows a proposed plan and has stated they've submitted plans to Orange County. I am unsure if anything has been scheduled or will be scheduled for this plan? It is right behind our house and community and we do not want it!
