5740 Wetherbee Road Rezoning Request for Mobile Concrete Recycling
Case #: RZ-26-03-007
This is a community meeting to discuss a proposal to rezone 5740 Wetherbee Rd. from I-1/I-5 to I-4 to allow for mobile concrete recycling. The current I-1/I-5 zone allows for light manufacturing and industrial uses in addition to many of the uses permitted in the commercial zoning districts. If this request is approved, the I-4 zone will allow industrial operations of all types, which may produce by-products such as odor, smoke, dust, and noise.
The property is located at 5740 Wetherbee Road; generally located north of State Road 417, and north Boggy Creek Road.
The community meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at South Creek Middle School – Media Center, 3801 E Wetherbee Rd, Orlando, FL 32824.
Next Steps:
- Following the community meeting, the request will be scheduled for a Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) Hearing, at which time a notice will be mailed to nearby property owners. The item will also appear on the PZC agenda which can be accessed through the County Calendar. The PZC meets typically every 3rd Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, Downtown Orlando.
- Following the PZC hearing, the case will go to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) in a Recommendation Book as a “consent item” for Board consideration. If the case is pulled from the Recommendation Book by a Commissioner or if the PZC decision is appealed, a separate public hearing before the BCC will be scheduled (typically 1 to 2 months after) and a notice will be mailed to nearby property owners.
