Orange County asks residents to help shape the future of Pine Hills through new vision plan (News 13)

PINE HILLS, Fla. — Orange County leaders are asking residents to help shape the future of Pine Hills.

Last month, Orange County unveiled the conceptual renderings highlighting possible improvements throughout the community. Officials say the images are meant to spark conversation, not serve as final plans.

County leaders say residents can review the renderings online and share ideas about transportation, housing, parks, retail and public spaces.

Officials say the effort is designed to gather community input before any redevelopment plans move forward.

“Developers will come in here and say, I want to build an apartment complex, I want to build a new shopping plaza. Well, as they’re coming into the county to say what they want to do, we’re being able to say, hey, look, well, these are the what the community is looking for," Orange County District 6 Commissioner Michael Scott said. "So at every step of the way, when someone is wanting to do something in and around Pine Hills, it’s like, okay, I see what you want to do.”

The county says several projects are already underway, including new sidewalks, expanded bike lanes, sewer infrastructure upgrades, trail extensions and beautification efforts.

Officials say those investments are intended to improve safety, encourage economic development and create more opportunities for future growth.

County leaders say the goal is to improve quality of life for the people who already call Pine Hills home. They are encouraging residents to participate now because they say community feedback will help shape any long-term vision for the area.

Residents can review the renderings, ask questions and submit feedback through the county’s online survey.

Another community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, at the Pine Hills Community Center (6408 Jennings Rd., Pine Hills).
