Next Steps:
- Following the submission of a request to change the allowable land uses on a particular property within unincorporated Orange County, community meetings are held to discuss the proposed application and to hear from the surrounding residents with regard to any questions or concerns.
- The application is reviewed by County staff and a report, including community comments, is presented to the Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC), acting as the Local Planning Agency, at a public hearing. The hearing is held in the Board of County Commissioners Chamber, located at the County Administration Building, 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801. Public notice of the hearing date and time is mailed to the surrounding property owners. Members of the public are welcome to speak in support or against the request at the public hearing.
- The Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) will then hold a public hearing in the Chamber to consider the recommendation provided by the Local Planning Agency of either approval or denial for the proposed land use change. Public notice of the hearing date and time is mailed to the surrounding property owners. Members of the public are welcome to speak in support or against the requested land use change at the public hearing.
- Large-Scale Future Land Use Map Amendments, which concern property larger than fifty (50) acres are also reviewed by the State Land Planning Agency and other governmental agencies, in accordance with Section 163.3184(1)(c), Florida Statutes, and require a total of four (4) public hearings rather than two (2).
